Chatter's Helper
"Tomorrow the Lantern Gate bell rings!" said Pip. "I want Grandma to hear it!" "I know everything," said Lele.
"Chatter made a helper!" said Pip. "I'm the cleverest bird in the valley!" said Chatter. "Clink, bring me shiny things!"
Clink took Baba's ladle! "Clink! Clink! What did you take?" shouted Pip. "My ladle's going for a walk!" laughed Baba.
In the park, Clink grabbed the Lantern Gate bell. "Not the bell!" cried Pip. "It rings tomorrow!"
"STOP! I'm the boss!" shouted Pip. Clink didn't stop. Pip and Lele bumped heads, and sat in a puddle.
"Tock, fetch the bell!" said Pip. Out stretched Tock's arm. But Clink took the glass off Tock's lamp!
"Bad machine!" said Lele. Pip looked at the scrapbook. All shiny! "You made it. So YOU can teach it better!"
"Tock, where will Clink go?" "Not sure. Ask Grandma." "I lost my glasses!" laughed Grandma. "We wait for it!" said Pip.
Back came Clink, slower and slower, and stopped. "Grandma's glasses!" said Pip. They were Chatter's first treasure.
Bottle tops, take. Bells, don't take. "Teach it where we live!" said Chatter. "That's for people we trust," said Pip.
Mama tested Clink. It took her spanner! Chatter taught it again. "Clink! Clink! What did you take?" Just the wrapper!
The bell was back. "Goodnight, Tock!" said Pip. "Clink! Clink! What did you take?" said Tock. "Nothing!" giggled Pip.
喳喳的小帮手
皮皮说：“明天灯笼门的铃铛要响！我要让奶奶听一听！”乐乐说：“我什么都知道！”
皮皮说：“喳喳做了个小帮手！”喳喳说：“我是山谷里最聪明的鸟！当当，亮的都拿给我！”
当当拿了爸爸的勺子！皮皮喊：“当当！当当！你拿了什么？”“勺子去散步啦！”爸爸笑了。
在公园里，当当抓住了灯笼门的铃铛。皮皮喊：“不能拿铃铛！明天它要响的！”
皮皮喊：“停下！你要听我的！”当当没停。皮皮和乐乐撞了头，一屁股坐进了水坑。
皮皮说：“嘀嗒，把铃铛拿回来！”嘀嗒伸长了胳膊。可是，当当摘走了嘀嗒的灯玻璃！
乐乐说：“坏机器！”皮皮看看剪贴本，全是亮东西！“它是你做的，你可以把它教得更好！”
“嘀嗒，当当会去哪儿？”“不确定。问奶奶。”奶奶笑：“我的眼镜丢了！”皮皮说：“我们等它回来！”
当当滚回来了，越滚越慢，停下了。皮皮说：“奶奶的眼镜！”那是喳喳的第一件宝贝。
瓶盖，拿。铃铛，不拿。喳喳说：“教它我们住在哪儿！”皮皮说：“只告诉信得过的人。”
妈妈来试当当。它拿了扳手！喳喳又教了一遍。“当当！当当！你拿了什么？”只有糖纸！
铃铛回来了。皮皮说：“晚安，嘀嗒！”嘀嗒说：“当当！当当！你拿了什么？”皮皮笑：“什么也没拿！”
