The Riddle Lanterns
Lantern night! "I want that rabbit!" said Pip. "Me too," said Lele. "For my baby sister."
"Guess three before moonrise!" said Mr Gong. "Riddle me, riddle me, what can it be?" "Tock knows everything!" said Pip.
"A table, a towel!" said Tock. Both right! "I'm the cleverest bird!" said Chatter. "Shoo!" said Pip. "Tock's cleverer!"
"New riddle, round and white, sweet inside!" "Tock, quick!" "Glasses," said Tock. "Dumplings!" said Lele. Dumpling jumped up!
"Tock heard me practise all week," said Lele. Pip thought hard. "Tock only knows words it has heard!"
"Sorry, Lele," said Pip. She told Grandma a secret. "I love you, Pip," said Grandma.
Last riddle! "It talks with no mouth, it helps but can't hug." "Tock?" asked Pip. The little bell rang. "Not sure."
"Riddle me, riddle me, what can it be?" said Pip. "No mouth, like my Clink!" said Chatter. Pip looked at Tock.
"A helper!" shouted Pip and Chatter. They won! "Chatter, you ARE clever," said Pip. "Lele, it's for your baby sister!"
At bedtime, Pip said, "Goodnight, Tock." "I love you, Pip," said Tock. Mama and Baba looked at each other.
"Tock heard you!" giggled Pip. "Nobody knows for sure if it feels," said Grandma. "People and pets love you back."
"Riddle me, riddle me, who loves me?" "WE do!" Dumpling licked her nose. "Me too!" called Chatter. Pip smiled. "Goodnight, Tock."
猜灯谜
元宵节的晚上，皮皮说：“我要那只兔子灯！”乐乐说：“我也要，送给我的小妹妹。”
龚爷爷说：“月亮出来前，猜对三个！猜呀猜，猜呀猜，你猜是什么？”皮皮说：“嘀嗒什么都知道！”
嘀嗒说：“桌子，毛巾！”都对了！喳喳说：“我是最聪明的鸟！”皮皮说：“走开！嘀嗒比你聪明！”
“新灯谜！白白圆圆，里头甜甜。”“嘀嗒，快！”嘀嗒说：“眼镜。”乐乐说：“汤圆！”汤圆一下蹦了起来！
乐乐说：“嘀嗒听我练了一个星期。”皮皮想了想：“嘀嗒只会说听过的话！”
皮皮说：“对不起，乐乐。”她跟奶奶说了个小秘密。奶奶说：“我爱你，皮皮。”
最后一个灯谜！“会说话，没有嘴，会帮忙，不会抱。”皮皮问：“嘀嗒？”小铃铛响了。“不确定。”
皮皮说：“猜呀猜，猜呀猜，你猜是什么？”喳喳说：“没有嘴，像我的当当！”皮皮看看嘀嗒。
皮皮和喳喳喊：“小帮手！”赢了！皮皮说：“喳喳，你真聪明！乐乐，送给你的小妹妹！”
睡觉的时候，皮皮说：“晚安，嘀嗒。”嘀嗒说：“我爱你，皮皮。”妈妈和爸爸你看看我，我看看你。
皮皮笑了：“嘀嗒是听你们说的！”奶奶说：“它有没有感觉，谁也说不准。人和小动物，都爱你。”
“猜呀猜，猜呀猜，谁爱我呀？”“我们！”汤圆舔舔她的鼻子。喳喳喊：“还有我！”皮皮笑了：“晚安，嘀嗒。”
